This is something I have said forever, we are all on different paths. What works for one may not work for another.
I have had plenty of conversations over the past few years with people wishing they were living someone else's life or thinking they are behind on life.
Someone compared our lives recently we are both the same age, he is living with his friends, single, working a good job, partying and travelling, whereas I am married with a mortgage and kid in a job I love. Our lives are so completely different and not one is better than the other, it is all down to the path the person is on and how they choose to live their life at this moment and time.
I have always been fascinated with how opinions change depending on the person you speak to, some say I grew up too fast, others say I'm too young to be living this life or I should be enjoying my life and then I have been told I'm advanced or I have it all together but in all honesty, some days I would love to hop on a plane to party it out in Ibiza with my girl friends and other days I couldn't think of a better plan than a family duvet movie day and I have also had my jealousy moments of wow imagine having that persons life, it looks so great.
That's the thing though it looks, you never know what happens behind closed doors and how do you know they are as happy as they look. Be you, be on your path, take it all in because you may get to a stage in life when you miss these days.
Also there is always more than one way of doing things, I am proud of where i have gotten in my career but I was awful in school, to be fair I'm still awful in school but I'm getting qualified slowly but surely. I didn't get enough points to get into an accountancy course so I worked during the day to pay for an evening course to get started, which turned into me getting a junior role and continuing my evening study, I may have missed out on 'the college life' but I got an advantage of extra work experience that full time students wouldn't have, lets always try find the silver lining. We all work our hardest in life and in the moment and time that we are living in, also people tend to forget life gets in the way and that is the beauty and pain of a work life balance.
I have had conversations with parents telling me there kids didn't get their points to get into the college they wanted and how unhappy and disappointed everyone was until you say 'hold on a minute, stop and think, how else can they get there' is there an evening class, is there an additional course they can do to build up the points, is there a way to get some work experience in the mean time to see whether they will actually like the course before they spend 3+ years studying it. Also it is never too late to change your mind or start over, some people do tend to forget that point.
If you are unhappy with the road your life is going down then change direction (if possible, obviously it is not always possible) and if your unsure where to start, ask for help. I will always be there to help anyone should they need to talk about it, just shoot me a message and I will help if I can.
I will finish on this note, sit down with a pen and paper, write down all your successes nothing too small or too big and stick it on your mirror so you can be proud every time you see it because YOU ARE DOING GREAT!! YOU ARE GREAT!! BE YOU, THERE'S ONLY ONE OF YOU!!
Well said shereen 🥰
