A Covid test with a Toddler

Unfortunately our little Logan had to be tested for Covid and it amazes me that even though we have been going through this since the beginning of March, there is so much information we don't know.
I have had so many people ask what was it like, how do you go about it, what do you need to do after, was he upset etc. So I thought I would share our experience on here.
Not Saturday gone but the Saturday before Logan woke up with a very runny nose and a bad cough, the type of one where he couldn't settle at night the poor little fella had our hearts broke.
We decided to be careful, stay in the weekend and call the doctor on Monday and thats what we did.
Along came Monday morning and he was just getting worse, called Creche to let them know he wouldn't be in and that we were going to call the GP and would let them know as soon as. Then called the GP, we got a call back at lunchtime to be told once he has a cough he needs to be sent for testing. Thank god there was no temperature.
We got a text very shortly after with an appointment for 11.48am the next day (Tuesday) at the location of Citywest Hotel.
When we arrived at Citywest Hotel the next morning it was laid out very well with multiple people telling you what direction to drive in. We were then stopped, asked to put our facemask's on and they asked for the person being tested name and time of appointment and to see the text.
They went off to get our paperwork and stuck it on the window, they also handed us a bag through the window which contained 3 facemasks, a leaflet and black bag. They directed us where to go next.
Once we got to the next part, we were asked who was being tested, they went through our details and explained what they were going to do.
Logan laughed at the men all dressed up coming to the car ha
They asked us to wipe his nose and hold him still, they were going to insert the swab into the inside of the nose and hold it there for 5 seconds (it did not go far in the nose) and they did this for both nostrils. Logan did cry but you could tell it wasn't because it hurt or was uncomfortable but more because he was being held still (the child never stays still) and as soon as we let go he was grand. We were told we would get the results in 3-4 days.
So off home we went to wait which I think is the worst part ha, why is it when we are told not to leave the house it is the ONLY thing you want to do. We were quite lucky that the following day we got a text to say his results were Negative at 18.36pm (Wednesday) 18 hours later which is a great turnaround.
I hope this eases anyone's mind when getting a child tested and if you have any questions feel free to reach out and I will answer the best i can.
