How personalized items for kids could go wrong

I am a huge fan of personalizing items, alot of gifts I have bought people over the years have been personalized, anything I see with Logan's name or any of my nephews or niece's name I automatically think I must have this. I think it came from the fact you would never find my name on anything unless its made specifically for me.

We all see kids with these cute backpacks with their names on it, delighted with life and off to school on their first days. What happens when someone is trying to find ways to gain a kid's trust and there it is wrote across them. I know alot of children who would think oh wow how do you know my name, oh I know you're mammy/daddy, instinctively you've got there attention and bar the more cautious children probably their trust.

That's when thing's can go wrong quickly and that's the scary truth.

I originally saw this on a post going around facebook and now as soon as I see a backpack with a child's name on it, it's the first thing that pop's into my head.

So just be cautious when buying items that give away information so easily at a first glance, unfortunately we shouldn't have to even consider the worst but in this day and age we do.

If looking for ways to increase your child's cautiousness then I have heard more for children and parents in America but it is an idea to use in our little Island of Ireland, a password. Create a password that only you 2 would know or obviously the family members so that in the case of an emergency where mammy/daddy/grandparents need to send someone to collect you they will share the agreed password and if they don't you do not go anywhere with this person even if you know them.

Another thing to consider which I do be amazed at my 2 almost 3 year old niece has been practicing months is, if in case she ever gets lost, her name is..... her mammy and daddy name is...... she is 2 years old and she lives......., we also discussed writing mammy's mobile number on a piece of paper to leave in her pocket and explain to her it is mammy's number in case you ever need her to get you.

Better to be safe than sorry. I know as soon as Logan can say a sentence I will be drilling this into his head too!! Stay safe :)
